To commemorate 150th anniversary of Schumann's death, the Mendelssohn Piano Trio, our brilliant resident ensemble, will present a two-evening cycle of Schumann's chamber music for piano and strings. The programs will include two piano trios, piano quartet and piano quintet. The Mendelssohn Piano trio will be joined by guest artists Michael Stepniak, viola and Claudia Chudacoff, violin. $45. Not only that this young pianist comes from Ukraine like Maestro does, but his teacher was a student of Horowitz's sister. Another marvelous pair of evenings of wonderful music in the elegant Ukrainian Embassy, a national treasure. Ukrainian reception to follow. Solomiya Ivakhiv is a winner of the Prokofiev and Kocian International Competitions, recipient of the Fritz Kreisler Gold Medal from the Curtis Institute of Music and was awarded a scholarship from the President of Ukraine.  Ukrainian buffet to follow- $75

For our final two concerts, enjoy the great popular music of Slovakia and Eastern Europe with Harmonia, the premier ensemble for Eastern European popular music. Their appearance last year at the Ukrainian Embassy tore the house down.- Buffet reception to follow. $75.

We are proud to present a number of concerts, featuring some of pianist Ann Schein's celebrated students, for the benefit of the Ann Schein and Betty Schein Piano Prize in the Washington International competition scholarship fund at the Friday Morning Club will be presented. We pay tribute to this great artist, who has enriched The Embassy Series in so many ways.
